Description

Titanium is a lightweight metal and has some special and practical performance.

It has half density of steel, a similar tensile strength to steel, high melting point,resist corrosion and non magnetic. Titanium now is common around the world, being mined in Australia,South Africa,China,India,USA and Canada. We had produced many metal parts by titanium GR5/TC4 more than 200 projects since 2007 for our clients from all over the world.

 

Titanium has a silver-white metallic luster. With a density of 4.51g·cm^-3, it is the heaviest light metal. Melting point (1668±10)℃, boiling point 3260℃. The melting point is higher than that of iron and nickel. The thermal conductivity at 25C is 14.99W·(m·℃)^-1, which is only 1/6 that of iron and 1/16 that of aluminum, which is not good for cutting and welding. The coefficient of expansion at 25C is 8.36×10^-6°C^-1, which is smaller than that of iron and nickel; it can compensate for the thermal stress caused by low thermal conductivity during heating and cooling. From this point of view, the material processing and heat treatment favorable. The molar heat capacity is 250.344kJ/(mol·℃)^-1. The linear elastic modulus is 115 GPa, the shear elastic modulus is 44 GPa, and the Poisson's ratio is 0.33. The modulus of elasticity is only slightly higher than half of that of iron and nickel, which has an adverse effect on the stiffness of the structure. The resistivity of high-purity titanium is 540×10^-9Ω·m; but the resistivity of industrial pure titanium is 650×10^-9Ω·m, in addition, the thermal conductivity is correspondingly lower.
